11/27/2004 - Glamorous Indie Rock & Roll High School All Nite

Sometimes it all just comes together. The night started off innocently enough, with a calm but cool 10-year high school reunion gathering in the back room, and things just continued to build. It's hard to put my finger on how and why, but in many ways I thought this was the best night of the entire fall so far.

I was really happy with what I played, which is all the more amazing considering that I was doing two nights in a row for the first time in some months. But everything just felt right. And when all was said and done, only eight songs were played on both nights—and one of those was The Only Ones, a staff request both nights. Not bad.

I found something to play from the U2 album other than "Vertigo," trotted out the Gwen Stefani single for the first time, got a great reaction from an old Grandaddy song of all things, and closed the night with one of the first songs I ever owned.
